*Note: Participation by the clinical and/or administrative clinical partners is strongly encouraged in order to maximize the learning value of the course.
Once the basic principles of diagnostically driven implant dentistry are well understood, additional skills are required to allow implants to be considered in less than ideal anatomic conditions. Since the “tissue is the issue, but the bone sets the tone”, this course will focus heavily on principles and practical techniques to recognize and augment hard and soft tissue deficiencies, allowing implants to be considered as a viable and predictable treatment option.
Several different techniques, including biological bone block grafts, ridge splitting, ridge expansion, guided bone regeneration, simultaneous implant placement with bone grafting, and sinus grafting will be covered in detail. Furthermore, several soft tissue techniques to enhance both the quality and quantity of the soft tissue will also be covered.
Via the use of many real life case presentations, practical “hands-on” exercises, live demonstration surgeries, as well as personal and supervised surgeries on your own patient, each participant will be well educated and equipped to immediately implement many of these techniques, in a safe and predictable manner in their own office.
Hard and soft tissue augmentation is a continually evolving field in implant dentistry. This course introduces the participants to the wide spectrum of treatment options and encourages continual learning to effectively apply these techniques to their enhanced patient care.
Ideal surgeries for Dental Implant II would be unilateral sinus elevations, bilateral sinus elevations, unilateral or bilateral sinus elevations with immediate implant placement in selected cases, internal sinus elevations, guided bone regeneration to increase horizontal volume, extraction and immediate placement of implants in pre-selected cases, or multiple placements of implants on the mandible.
The first eight participants to register for the course will be given the opportunity for a surgical time. Case documentation must be submitted to Dr. Norm Ickert no later than three weeks prior to the course date. Documentation for the live surgery should follow the template available upon registration and should ideally include a CT scan and/or panoramic radiograph, models, photos, as well as patient medical and dental history.

At the conclusion of Dental Implant II, each participant will understand

Dental Implant II: Hard & Soft Tissue Augmentation Information Package

"In the past, I've attended some very prestigious implant courses, but Dr. Ickert's course is worth every penny. He will teach it, show it, and then encourage you to bring a patient to Canada to DO IT! He provided the necessary education, techniques, skills, and confidence to get me excited about returning to my practice to perform advanced bone grafting on Monday-no joke!"
-Dr. Jose Arthur Mirelez Jr.
