Course Overview
*Note: Participation by the clinical and/or administrative clinical partners is strongly encouraged in order to maximize the learning value of the course.

Including dental implants into our treatment plans has evolved into the standard of care. Many practitioners choose to not include dental implants into their practices because it may seem complicated or overwhelming.

The reality is that in many ways, implant dentistry is more predictable and user friendly than the conventional crown and bridge. The key is to understand the parameters for proper diagnosis and treatment planning.

This course will include a strong and dynamic emphasis on Diagnosis and Treatment planning as it relates to dental implants. The focus will be on principles that can be universally adapted to any specific implant system. The key will be to build a very solid foundation both conceptually and practically. The latest technology using 3-D Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CT Scan) and its related software will be introduced and implemented by all participants.

Via the use of several case presentations, practical and relevant “hands-on” exercises, live demonstration surgeries, and personal live patient surgeries, each participant will become very familiar and confident with the placement and prosthetic restoration of dental implants, in their own offices, in well-selected cases. The ultimate goal is to create the confidence, based on sound information to implement this treatment modality into your practice on the Monday morning following the course.

Ideal surgeries for Dental Implant I would be a mature site or a delayed site (6 to 8 weeks post extraction),
avoiding the anterior aesthetic zone.

The first eight participants to register for the course will be given the opportunity for a surgical time. Case documentation must be submitted to Dr. Norm Ickert no later than three weeks prior to the course date. Documentation for the live surgery should follow the template available upon registration and should ideally include a CT scan and/or panoramic radiograph, models, photos, as well as patient medical and dental history.
